. hurricane and tropical storm warnings have been issued from north carolina to as far north as canada. >> for the latest on hurricane earl, the projected path, we'll go to meteorologist doug. >> we just got the latest. the winds have dropped. now down to 115 miles an hour, making it a minimal category 3 storm. this is a live shot. down at wrightsville beach, psych a little angry owing there but not too bad. the eye of the storm should pass just off the coast in about the next six to eight hours. that is when thing should start to go downhill. tow next couple hours we'll see this picture change dramatically. something else that has changed, the storm itself. last night around 11:00, it really looked like an amazingly strong storm. winds of 145 miles per hour. now those winds are down to only 115 miles per hour and it's expected to continue to weaken as it makes its way toward the north. the latest brand new track brings it off the coast of north carolina as a category 2. off our coastline as well by a category 2 as well. we could see some of the biggest concerns around our region. once

'rfeeli some of that chill here wh hi presse pushing down from eastern canada through the mid atlantic states. clear sky. plenty of sun. it should get us up to near 80 by afternoon. and then cool tonight. not as chilly as this morning. warming up with a southwesterly breeze. it will keep it on the summery side. jerry, how is the traffic? >> we continue to follow breaking news where the accidt remains two right lanes remain closed. all this occurred on the inner loop of the beltway between i-66 and route 7. two left lanes get by. it's jammed leaving springfield all the way up. unfortunatel there is no shoulder because that's part of the construction zone there. we have to wait for the tow trucks to get there. can't move the cars out until the tow trucks arrive a pull them out completely. be forewarned. from springfield to 66 it is a nightmare. over on 66, because of the location of t accident, making for an extremely difficult merge coming in on 66 trying to get on to or beyond the capital beltwy. 66 delays begin centerville most of the way in. that, too, is a parking lot. drop down route 50.

after getting a tip that he had explosives on a plane. the flight was heading from canada to pakistan but made an emergency landing in stockholm. > investigators say more than 60 crimes all overairfax county have been committed by the same person. the crime spree has stretch from sully and fair oaks to reston and mclean. there have been dozens of break ins but only one suspect and there's serious concern now beuse guns were stolen. jackie bensen has more now on the robberies. >> reporter: open garage doors, fairfax county police say it's an invitation to an extremely prolific thief targeng homes. he enters occupied homes during the overnight hours. >> the suspect ientering unlocked doors into the home, going inside the home retrieving car keys, entering the vehicles outside and taking items from in the car. >> reporter: the thief has been busy, very busy after a news story last friday warning the community about nearly four dozenreak ins police think he committed nearly 20 more. this time he stole something more than purses and wallets. >> in the larcenies from veicles he stole two h

is now in a new york jail. authorities say they picked him up trying to cross into canada from new york state. police say the # 2-year-old assaulted that little girl at the mini land day care and fled when an arrest warrant was issued. he is expected to be extradited to fairfax county sometime in the next couple of weeks. -- police say the 22-year-old assaulted that little girl. >>> word that actor tony curtis has died. that is according to entertainment tonight which says his daughter, jamie lee curtis confirmed her father's passing. it is unclear exactly when this happened. he received an oscar nomination in 1959 for his role in the movie the defiant ones. tony curtis was 85 years old. >>> we continue to follow today's severe weather here in our area. we'll get an update on the blows mexico is taking from mother nature. another deadly landslide has rescuers working. >>> what fellow classmates did that police think pushed a teenager over the edge.  >>> another deadly mudslide in mexico last night. this one killed 16 people and injured 13. heavy rains have soaked the hillside of
